About Me
Hi! I’m Jocelyn Tamayo, a costume designer and storyteller from East Los Angeles, currently based in San Diego while pursuing my MFA in Costume Design at San Diego State University. As a proud Latinx artist, my work focuses on uplifting BIPOC stories and centering voices that have been historically underrepresented, and especially those of women and marginalized communities.
I’ve designed for both theatre and film, and love collaborating with directors and fellow artists to bring characters to life through costume. My design approach is rooted in authenticity, research, and a deep respect for culture and identity.
Whether I’m diving into historical silhouettes or contemporary styles, I’m always excited to create thoughtful, character-driven designs and to work alongside others who are passionate about meaningful storytelling. Let’s create something powerful together.
